"For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations." Isaiah 61:11

Recent Projects...additional landscaping!

My husband has been working on some more landscaping this past week. He wanted to add a Tulip Poplar to our side yard to eventually give more shade to our home and help conserve energy. The Tulip Poplar is the Indiana State Tree. He chose this tree because it's branches grow more upward, rather than horizontal, so it would fit nicely in the space as it grows.

Tonight he plans to get the weedguard and rocks done and have it completed!

Recent Projects... pruning!

We've had a large bush in our back yard up close to the house. It was a beautful, full bush that the Sparrows loved, BUT it was right outside my kitchen window and blocked the view of everything else.
After looking at the original owner of our home's landscaping plans we were surprised to read that this large bush was actually a Sargent Crabapple Tree!
(Malus Sargenti) It is the smallest of the flowering crabapple species.
This gave me an excuse to start pruning it into a tree! I enjoy pruning bushes, I can't help it. It's the hidden artist in me that desires to create something different! Here's the finished product. I'm sure it will look better in time.

You can see from the huge pile of branches how much pruning was involved here!

Treasured Trees

I love trees! Below are a some of the trees in our yard that I especially appreciate:

The tree above is an Eastern Redbud. My husband planted this 2 years ago. It has grown wonderfully and I think it is such a lovely tree.

The tree above is a Bradford Pear tree. Bradford Pear trees have such beautiful shape. This one is thriving in our front yard.

These two trees are Birch trees. I really like the look of Birch trees. The negative is the frequent twigs in the yard from them!
